The stomach bug gets us every year. We dread the stomach bug...dread. We were doing so well, I thought that we might make it through a year without it. But, no. It found us. I started feeling bad on Sunday afternoon. I took Monday off. I thought that I was ready to go back to work on Tuesday. I made it about 2 hours into the day...when all of a sudden I got very weak. I had stabbing pain in my upper abdomen region. A coworker drove me to the hospital (I seriously thought that it was not stomach flu related). When I was released we learned that I was severely dehydrated, low on potassium, and had a virus. Since I already have a hiatal hernia and reflux, it was just intensified. So I went home on strict orders to drink liquids and get lots of rest.
At 2 am, Stacy is screaming. I thought it was her back molars so I brought her into bed with us. Only to discover that she also has the stomach bug. So my day of rest was spent doing LOADS of laundry. I tried to relax a little today. I am still spraying Lysol all the time and am hoping that Emma does not get it tonight. Mom called earlier today to let me know that it got her.
I don't know what the secret is to avoiding the stomach flu. But we are hoping that we have seen the last of it for this flu season.
